1.Stop 36-Hour Shifts! Doctors Demand Fixed Duty Hours for Better Health & Patient Safety

Resident doctors across India, under the United Doctors Front (UDF), are urging PM Modi to enforce fixed duty hours through a Uniform Residency Scheme. Despite the 1992 MoHFW directive limiting shifts to 48 hours per week and 12 hours at a stretch, many medical colleges ignore these rules, forcing doctors into inhuman 36-hour shifts that harm their mental health and patient safety.

Doctors demand nationwide implementation, strict penalties for violators, and public display of duty-hour regulations. The tragic case at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, has further highlighted the urgent need for reform.

2.Watching Nature Scenes Can Reduce Pain – New Study Shows How 🌿✨

Research shows that exposure to nature—either real (like parks and gardens) or virtual (videos and sounds of nature)—can help reduce pain, stress, and anxiety in patients. This approach is especially helpful for doctors, therapists, and caregivers looking for simple, low-cost pain management tools. Nature has a calming effect on the brain and body, making it a powerful, healing resource in both clinical and home care settings.

3. Expanding Ayushman Bharat: OPD Services & Better Post-Hospitalization Care Needed

A parliamentary committee has recommended crucial improvements to the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY scheme to make healthcare more accessible and comprehensive. The key proposals include adding OPD services for chronic diseases and common illnesses, extending post-hospitalization medication coverage beyond the current 15-day limit, and implementing AI-driven fraud detection to prevent misuse of funds. Additionally, the committee supports the establishment of 200 cancer daycare centres in 2025-26 to improve chemotherapy access and calls for mandatory Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening for individuals aged 30 and above to enable early detection and treatment. These reforms aim to strengthen India’s healthcare system by reducing the financial burden on patients and ensuring better medical care

4.Naturopathy Education Needs Uniformity – Centre Calls for Standardization

The Indian government has acknowledged the need for uniformity in Naturopathy education, as different states follow different course durations and syllabi. Currently, students in five-year courses receive the "Doctor" title, while those in four-year courses do not, leading to inconsistency. Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav assured that the government will work on standardized regulations and a national registration system for Naturopathy. Additionally, the shortage of Ayush medicines, especially in rural areas, forces many Ayush doctors to prescribe allopathic alternatives. The government is taking steps to improve the availability of Ayush medicines and expand research collaborations.

5. Revolutionizing TB Diagnosis in India: HaystackAnalytics Launches ‘TB One’ Solution

HaystackAnalytics has launched ‘TB One’, a Make-in-India genomic solution to improve tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis across India. The kit enables Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) from TB DNA and comes with Omega TB, a patented software that provides detailed reports on drug resistance (18 anti-TB drugs), mixed infections, non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), and heteroresistance.

Unveiled at the ICMR India Innovation Summit 2025, TB One allows existing molecular labs to adopt advanced TB testing without major infrastructure upgrades. It's cost-effective, scalable, and aligns with India’s mission of TB Mukt Bharat. With this innovation, genomics-based TB testing becomes more accessible, empowering labs to deliver faster, more accurate, and life-saving diagnostics.

Metropolis Healthcare, led by executive chairperson Ameera Shah, plans to acquire 2–3 diagnostic companies annually to expand its presence in North and East India and strengthen its specialty testing services in areas like oncology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, gynaecology, and infectious diseases. Why Hospitals Need Audits – And Why Management Shouldn't Avoid Them

Why are audits important?

1. Follow the rules: Hospitals must follow many laws and standards. Audits check if the hospital is doing everything by the book.

2. Better patient care: Audits help find problems in patient care so hospitals can fix them and give better treatment.

3. Safety first: Audits look for risks like infections, medical errors, or data leaks – and help stop them before they cause harm.

4. Save time and money: Audits show where the hospital can cut waste and run more smoothly.

5. Stay accredited: Many hospitals need audits to maintain their accreditation and reputation.

6. Keep improving: Audits give helpful feedback so hospitals can keep getting better every day.

Types of hospital audits:

  • Clinical audits – Check patient care and medical practices.
  • Financial audits – Review money matters and spending.
  • Operational audits – Study daily hospital operations.
  • Compliance audits – Ensure legal and ethical standards are met.
  • Risk audits – Find possible dangers to patients or staff.

Often, it’s fear of being blamed or exposing hidden problems. But avoiding audits won’t make issues go away—it just delays solutions. A smart hospital sees audits not as a threat but as a tool to grow stronger.

The Doctorpreneur Academy:
Quote from Legends in medicine and entrepreneurship

Brief:

Wanting is a book about why we want what we want. Luke Burgis explains that many of our desires are not truly our own. Instead, we copy what others want—this is called "mimetic desire."

The idea comes from a thinker named René Girard, who said that we learn what to want by watching other people. For example, if your friend wants a new phone or job, you might start wanting the same—even if you didn’t care about it before.

This copycat desire can cause problems: jealousy, competition, stress, and even conflict. We may chase things that don’t really make us happy, just because others are chasing them too.

Burgis suggests we become more aware of our desires, figure out which ones are truly ours, and focus on things that give us real meaning and joy. He also talks about the difference between "thin" desires (influenced by others) and "thick" desires (deep, personal goals).
