1.Medical Negligence vs Medical Errors: What the Government Just Clarified for Doctors

The Government of India recently clarified in the Lok Sabha that there are no current plans to introduce a separate legal framework to differentiate medical negligence from unintentional medical errors. Complaints against doctors will continue to be handled by State Medical Councils (SMCs) or the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) under the NMC Act, 2019, guided by the Professional Conduct Regulations, 2002. Doctors are entitled to a hearing and an appeal, ensuring fair treatment. No special tribunal is being planned, and the government aims to balance patient rights with protection for ethical practitioners.

3.West Bengal Doctors Must Earn 30 CPD Credit Hours for License Renewal, Says Medical Council

The West Bengal Medical Council (WBMC) has made it mandatory for doctors to earn 30 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credit hours over five years to renew their medical registration. These credit hours must be gained by attending approved seminars, conferences, or educational events, and doctors must submit official certificates as proof. The rule aligns with NMC guidelines and aims to encourage ongoing learning and updated medical knowledge. While welcomed by the medical community, doctors have called for clear, transparent rules on how credit hours are calculated and approved.

Why Doctors Need to Be Seen, Not Just Skilled

“I’m a doctor —why should I be on social media making reels?”

👉 “Being great at your work is important. But if no one knows about it, it won’t take you far. Visibility matters.”

Let’s break this down:

🔸 Old thinking: Let your surgeries and outcomes speak.
🔹 New reality: Show how you’re making a difference.

🔸 Old thinking: Master your skill and success will follow.
🔹 New reality: People need to see your expertise to trust it.

🔸 Old thinking: Stay focused only in the OT.
🔹 New reality: Step into the world — share, teach, and lead.

💡 The top doctors today do more than just treat:

  • They educate.
  • They speak at events.
  • They share research and outcomes.
  • They lead teams and inspire the next generation.

And patients?
They often go to the doctor they trust and the one they see.

📢 In today’s world, visibility isn’t showing off — it’s building trust and impact.

So if you're a doctor reading this — don’t hesitate to share your knowledge, cases, innovations, and values.

🎥 Your next reel might just inspire a future doctor or help a confused patient make the right choice.

The Doctorpreneur Academy:
Quote from Legends in medicine and entrepreneurship

Brief:

This book is all about the real-life struggles of running a business, especially as a startup founder or CEO.

Ben Horowitz, a successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor, doesn’t sugarcoat things. He shares his own experiences—the good, the bad, and the very tough—like laying off employees, dealing with crises, and making hard decisions when things go wrong.

Unlike many books that focus only on success stories, this one talks about what to do when things get really hard—and how to lead through it.

Key Lessons:

  • Being a leader is tough—there are no easy answers.
  • You must learn to make difficult decisions, even when you’re scared.
  • Hiring, firing, raising money, and keeping your team motivated are all part of the job.
  • Trust, honesty, and clear communication matter the most during tough times.
